Members of the Story Corps give a short description of their background.

The Allegany County Library System’s Programming Team provides high quality and enjoyable early childhood learning programs and events for all ages both in our libraries and out in our community. The Programming Team’s Story Corps visits Head Start Pre Kindergarten and classrooms, Allegany County schools, daycare centers, and other early childhood education organizations to reach those children who may never have the opportunity to visit a library. The Story Corps offer these outreach services as their schedules and library resources allow.

In a survey, our outreach partners have reported that children become more interested in reading as a result of the Story Corps’ visits. The HRDC Pre-K Expansion group noted in the survey that “Students love to read Mo Willems books after Ms. Stacy began reading Pigeon, Piggy, and Gerald books to them. They get so excited each month when I put her name on the calendar of when she will be visiting us. They look forward to her visit. Ms. Stacy is FABULOUS! She reads to the students in such an enthusiastic way that they can not help but get totally engaged and fascinated with books. Her activities (books, music, and movement) are developmentally appropriate and keep the active children engaged.”
