Summer with OUR Library 2026: Unearth a Story!
Welcome to Summer with Our Library!
Join us for a fun-filled season of reading, learning, and winning! Summer with Our Library 2026 promotes reading through exciting themes, events, and activities for all ages—from babies to adults.
How it works:
- Pick up a Reading Log at any Allegany County Library System branch starting June 9 (or download one below!)
- Tell us what you’ve read—books, audiobooks, or even bedtime stories count!
- Return your completed log to your library by August 8 and receive a prize (while supplies last)
- All returned logs are entered into our Grand Prize Drawings on August 22
- One prize per participant, and yes—you can submit more than one log for grand prize entries!
What you get:
- Teens & Adults get a FREE tote bag when you pick up a reading log (while supplies last)
- Kids get a FREE book when they complete their first reading log each month (June, July, August)
Everyone who participates is eligible for our Grand Prizes, so keep reading and logging all summer long!
This year, there’s even more ways to win! Throughout summer, tell us about a book you’ve read for an extra entry! Each response is equal to one entry. Turn your entry slip in to a staff member at the desk to enter for additional prizes like pool passes, local gift cards, summer t-shirts, and fair passes! Some examples of how you can share the stories you’ve read are recorded book talks, book review worksheets (available at the library desk), book cover redesigns, and any othe rcreative response that shows us what you’ve read!

Join us for Summer with Our Library Kickoff and other special events!
We’re really excited to kick off Summer with Our Library Wednesday, June 17 starting at 4:00 p.m. at Hoffman Park in Frostburg! This year’s summer theme, Unearth a Story, promises a season bursting with creativity, imagination, and fun for the whole family. Come learn more about the library and all our upcoming summer programs and offerings.
This event is free to attend and great for all ages and will feature:
- Family Fun Activities
- Performance from Mountain City Center for the Arts
- Raffles
- Roaming Dinos
- Community Partners
- Kona Ice
Plus, we’ll be doing on-the-spot library card sign ups! Just bring your photo ID and proof of address and we can get you signed up for the whole family!
Pick up a schedule at your library and unearth a story all summer long with exciting adventures like Story Time in the Park, explorations at Rocky Gap State Park, fun at the Allegany County Fair, and so much more!
