Summer@Your Library 2021: Tails and Tales!

We’re looking for Summer Reading Sponsors for 2021!

Summer Reading Programs were originally designed by public libraries to help elementary-aged students avoid summer learning loss by encouraging them to read. Our Summer Reading Program has grown to include programs and prizes for all ages-teens, tweens, and adults making the program a true community-wide event. In our economically-challanged area, the Allegany County Library System has become more imporant than ever and is busier than ever. We touch the lives of many and strive to do even more.

Sponsorships form the community make everything we do in the summer possible. The theme for is Tails and Tales, and we plan to follow the safe new programming model we found to be so successful and are planning to expand to include even more programs for all ages.

Your business logo will appear on summer reading logs and promotions with over 15,000 distributed! Deadline to be included on reading logs is March 17, 2021. Please send your logo in PDF, jped, tif, or png to Alison Cline at

If you are interested in making a donation or have any questions, please contact Alison Cline by email at or by phone 301-777-1200 ext. 1009.

The Allegany County Library System is a 501-C3 non-profit organization. Your donation is tax-deductible and we will send you a letter for your records. Checks can be made out to the Allegany County Library System and mailed to the attention of Alison Cline at 31 Washington Street, Cumberland, MD 21502. Donations can also be made online on our Support Us page.

The Summer Reading Program is an annual library celebration of reading, learning and fun!  Summer with Your Library promotes the joy of reading, celebrates our community and most importantly, enhances and grows our kids reading and comprehension levels so they continue to thrive at school and home.  Summer@Your Library 2020 looked a little different due to the public health emergency, but that did not stop Allegany County from reading! Thousands of books were read by participants in the community and over 800 people attended outdoor, socially-distant Story Time in the Park programs! Thanks to our 2020 corporate and local sponsors, every child that attended a summer program went home with a free book and pre-packaged craft. In support of local businesses during the pandemic, the majority of our participation prizes were purchased from local businesses and restaurants. We also encouraged safe outdoor activities with Maryland State Park Passports as our Grad Prizes!
