Girls Who Code Summer Camp 2019

When: Thursday, June 27, 2019 - 8:30 AM
Where: Frostburg Library at Meeting Room

This is free summer camp for girls entering into 6th, 7th or 8th grade. The camp is designed for girls with any level of computer skills from zero computer coding skills to advanced. If you are interested in learning about computer programming, coding and learning from women in the computer science field then fill out the application below.
The camp is a supportive girls only environment to see how much fun learning about coding can be. Please encourage other girls to join the fun and sign up soon!!!

And after we solve the world's programs, there will be dancing and cookies. :)

How Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher" Reflects His Horrifying Reality

October 2019 marks the 170th anniversary of Edgar Poe's death. This talk honors the master of the macabre by delving into one of his most famous tales - "The Fall of the House of Usher." We will discuss how the story is part of a German tradition while also engaging in popular culture issues of Poe's day. This event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Amy Armiento is a professor of English at Frostburg State University. Since 2011, she has served on the executive committee of the Poe Studies Association, an international organization that supports the scholarly and informal exchange of information on the life, works, times, and influence of Edgar Allan Poe. She now serves as the organization's president. When she is not working, she enjoys reading, hiking the C&O Canal Trail with her dogs and family, and tracing her genealogy.
