Chalk It Up to Civility – a Choose Civility: Allegany County community collaboration

Choose Civility: Allegany County and its partners will celebrate the annual “Day of Civility” with events all April long.  Many events are centered around the theme,“Chalk it Up to Civility,” an idea that stemmed from the Choose Civility steering committee during the COVID-19 pandemic as a safe way to share and celebrate civility as a community.  Choose Civility: Allegany County is encouraging adults and children to participate in using chalk drawings with inspiring messages and words of encouragement to spread kindness to others in our community.  The goal is to provide opportunity for collaborative conversation in spite of difference, develop consensus in the place of division, and create connectedness in our community.

“Chalk it Up to Civility” at these community events throughout April:

April 3, 11:30 AM – Christ Lutheran Church of LaVale

April 7, 11 AM to 5 PM – Chalk it Up stations at Allegany County Libraries

April 16, 11 AM to 1 PM– Chalk it Up with the Easter Bunny in Downtown Cumberland and Canal Place
