Welcome to the 2026 Winter Reading Games!

Let the games begin! This February, readers of all ages are invited to take part in the Winter Reading Games, a fun, all-ages reading challenge inspired by the excitement, teamwork, and spirit of the Winter Olympics.

Whether you’re reading on your own or being read to, every minute counts. Track your reading, earn prizes, and celebrate a month of cozy stories and friendly competition—no athletic training required!

How It Works

  • Pick up an approved Winter Reading Games log at any Allegany County Library or download one below
  • For every 15 minutes spent reading or being read to, color in one snowflake
  • Keep reading and filling in snowflakes throughout February
  • Return your completed log by February 28 to earn prizes and be entered into grand prize drawings

Who Can Participate?

Everyone!
The Winter Reading Games are open to all ages, from early readers to adults.

Prizes & Awards

Participants earn prizes as they complete and return reading logs (while supplies last):

  • 1 log returned – Bronze Level
  • 2 logs returned – Silver Level
  • 3 logs returned – Gold Level

All participants who complete the program will also be entered to win grand prizes, including a Cozy Reading Basket and a $75 Wisp gift card.
